Austrian Film Gender Report 2012-2016

The Austrian Film Gender Report 2012-2016 is the first comprehensive study on gender relations in the Austrian filmindustry. The study refers to the five years time frame 2012-2016. The realisation took place in 2017 and 2018 by Eva Flicker (project lead) and Lena Lisa Vogelmann (key researcher) at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna.

Background

The AUSTRIAN Film Gender Report 2012-2016 was commissioned in 2017 on behalf of the Austrian Film Institute and the Federal Chancellery of Austria, Sektion II Kunst und Kultur.

Goals

  • Solid data on gender relations and gender ratios in teh Austrian film industry
  • Societal awareness for gender inequalities within the film industry
  • Giving foundations for effective applications and implematations of programs for the reduction of  gender inequalitives
  • Pilot project for future studies of evalutaion these new gender incentives
